• CMFRI bags ICAR's Sardar Patel Best Institution Award for 2006-07. The Award was presented by the Hon'ble Union Minister of Agriculture Shri. Sharad Pawarji at New Delhi on 16th July 2008
• The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi has been recognized as a ‘Designated National Repository’ by Government of India, in consultation with the National Biodiversity Authority, under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002
